If you are selling your car in British Columbia, Clutch provides a quicker, easier, and more secure option than selling it privately or at a traditional dealership. We make payments via Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) or instant Interac direct deposit to ensure a secure and efficient process. Once your vehicle is dropped off or picked up, we initiate payment the same day and provide confirmation that the funds have left our account.

• Ontario & Atlantic: Mon–Fri 8AM–8PM EST (Bill of Sale signed by 7PM), Sat–Sun 9AM–5PM EST (signed by 4PM).
• British Columbia: Mon–Fri 9AM–5PM PST, Sat–Sun 9AM–2PM PST.

Payment windows are the same whether you sell at a retail hub, pop-up, or pick-up. If you sell on a Sunday or statutory holiday and we cannot run a lien check, payment will be delayed until the next business day. If your bank does not support instant Interac deposits, funds will arrive via EFT in 1–3 business days (usually next day). On statutory holidays, payments are processed the next business day.

You will also receive:

• A binding Bill of Sale signed by both you and Clutch.
• Confirmation of any lien amount to be paid off (if applicable).
• A breakdown of the remaining balance to be deposited into your account.

If applicable, payments to lienholders can take up to four weeks to process.

If you have a loan on the car that you’re selling, Clutch will pay off the loan and deduct it from the value of our offer. Loan payments made by Clutch can take up to 30 business days to be processed, depending on the financial institution’s processing times. Any payments made in this period will be reimbursed by the financial institution, not Clutch. There is a one-time lien discharge fee of $199 that is applied to your bill of sale if you would like Clutch to take care of the loan for you.

At Clutch, we pride ourselves on providing firm offers online. In some cases where undisclosed damage or discrepancies from the condition option selected are discovered during inspection, it can have an impact on your offer. To ensure fairness and accuracy, we offer three condition options for evaluating your car: excellent, good, and poor. Choosing the excellent condition indicates a car with no imperfections, both inside and out. The good condition allows for normal wear without major cosmetic issues. Opting for the poor condition implies the presence of several cosmetic problems that would require repair.

We also take into consideration the accuracy of the accident claims provided compared to the CARFAX history. If there are discrepancies between the two, it may result in a deduction from the initial offer.

If you're not sure about whether damage on your vehicle might change your offer, simply take a few pictures and send them to offers@clutch.ca, we'll let you know if there is an adjustment required. In any case, if you're not happy with an adjustment made, you can walk away without penalty at any point in the Clutch process.
