2023 Ford Maverick

Great vehicle

PROS

Seat Comfort
Very comfortable drive and a surprisingly intuitive layout.
Interior Space
The cab provides more space than I thought it would.
Fuel Economy
The size and style of vehicle allows for a ton of storage while being family friendly, with added bonus of fuel efficiency (~8.5L/100km for me)
Styling
Something about it does feel a little silly, I must admit. Turning a key to start the engine on a hybrid feels like a throwback, while the dial gearshift (dumb) is all modern feeling. But it's ok... I love it anyways.
Reliability
No issues thus far, and quite efficient in its own right but especially considering its size.

CONS

Styling
The dial gearshift will never not be silly.

Toronto Used Ford Maverick Guide

Overview

The Ford Maverick, known for its compact size and hybrid efficiency, is an ideal choice for Toronto's urban landscape. With its impressive fuel economy and maneuverability, the Maverick is well-suited for navigating the city's dense traffic and tight parking spaces. The hybrid powertrain is particularly appealing to Toronto drivers looking to minimize fuel costs while commuting through the city or taking longer trips along the Gardiner Expressway. In the local used market, popular trims like the XLT and Lariat offer a blend of comfort and technology, making them a top choice for those seeking a balance of practicality and modern features.

Compared to competitors like the Honda Ridgeline and Toyota Tacoma, the Maverick stands out with its affordability and hybrid option, which is a significant advantage given Toronto's high fuel prices. The Maverick's compact dimensions make it easier to park in downtown areas, while its versatile bed and interior space cater to the diverse needs of Toronto residents, from weekend DIY projects to daily commutes. The Maverick's appeal is further enhanced by its reputation for reliability and low maintenance costs, making it a smart choice for budget-conscious buyers in Toronto.

Key benefits

Choosing a used Ford Maverick in Toronto offers several advantages:

  • Fuel Efficiency: The hybrid powertrain provides excellent fuel economy, ideal for reducing costs in Toronto's high-traffic areas.
  • Compact Size: Its smaller dimensions make it easy to navigate and park in the city's crowded streets and parking lots.
  • Affordability: Compared to other trucks, the Maverick offers a lower entry price, making it accessible to a wider range of buyers.
  • Versatile Design: The Maverick's flexible interior and bed space accommodate various needs, from transporting goods to family outings.
  • Reliability: Known for its dependable performance, the Maverick requires minimal maintenance, appealing to Toronto drivers seeking long-term value.

Potential trade-offs

While the Ford Maverick is a strong contender in Toronto, there are some considerations to keep in mind:

  • Performance: The base engine may feel underpowered for those accustomed to larger trucks, especially when carrying heavy loads.
  • Technology: Older models might lack some of the latest infotainment features, which could be a drawback for tech-savvy buyers.
  • Space: While compact, the Maverick's cargo volume may not match larger competitors, which could be a limitation for those needing more storage.
  • Availability: Due to its popularity, finding specific trims or configurations in the used market may require patience and flexibility.
  • Winter Handling: Although capable, the Maverick's performance in harsh winter conditions may not match that of traditional AWD trucks, requiring careful consideration for those frequently driving in snow and ice.
