2021 Mazda CX-5

My 2021 Mazda CX5 signature from Clutch.

PROS

Ride and Handling
Turbo powered 2.5 L engine. Love Mazda’s automatic transmission.
Seat Comfort
N/A
Technology and Entertainment
Heads up display, wireless carplay
Interior Space
Is average
Value
It was a 2021 model with only 23000 kms on it, top of the line priced reasonably
Fuel Economy
Is average.
Styling
Love the sleek design of Mazda. They mature nicely. Doesn’t get outdated too quickly.
Reliability
Like any Japanese cars.

CONS

Technology and Entertainment
2021 models are two types- one type till Aug of 2021. They come with smaller 8” screens compared to the 10” that comes in the second half. But you get wireless carplay. However the UI is laggy and restarts sometimes.
Interior Space
Feels a little claustrophobic. The interiors use the most premium materials like Napa leather. But the sleek design outside makes inside feel a little smaller. This is a personal opinion.
Fuel Economy
Power comes at the cost of fuel. Low mileage compared to other makes.

2018 Mazda CX-5

Mazda CX5 An all round winner

PROS

Ride and Handling
Everything is in great condition.
Seat Comfort
There is a slight cabin noise when you drive very fast on the highway but otherwise unnoticeable.
Technology and Entertainment
Love the blind spot monitors, lane departure warning
Interior Space
I love the space in the front. Back is a little tight but okay.

My car is bang for buck. I paid around 23k (pre taxes for this car).
Fuel Economy
It performs exactly at par of what Mazda claims. I get around 9.4l fuel efficiency (highway and city combined)
Styling
I have always loved the exteriors and interiors of Mazda cars. The 2018 CX5 was a no brainer. Kudos to clutch for making sure the interior was spotless and as clean as new.
Reliability
Have faced zero issues with the car since the day it was delivered to me even though I bought it a a mileage of 91k km. I’ve driven it for more than 25km now in 8 months.

CONS

Fuel Economy
It’s great but not as great as competitors primarily because they have a smaller engine

2022 Mazda CX-5

WONDER DRIVE

PROS

Ride and Handling
Excellent is just one word to describe the way it responds.
Seat Comfort
homely comfort? That's what comes to my mind in comparison, when I sit on my sofa at home
Technology and Entertainment
Reliable and very well designed with passenger safety as its prime consideration. With no bells and whistles to distract you from driving safely.
Interior Space
More than adequate for our needs.
Value
Have been a Mazda user for over 10 years and this is our 3rd Mazda. Mazdas are feature rich and reliable, apart being competitively priced. The drive is always peppy and you can feel its response in every aspect.
Fuel Economy
For my driving schedule it's more than satisfactory.
Styling
It's technology presented artistically - to say the least.
Reliability
Following the maintenance schedule of the user manual is more than adequate to ensure your wallet remains intact. With my earlier Mazdas, the annual maintenance was always low and hopefully this one too will not disappoint me.

CONS

Interior Space
I wish the trunk was a little bigger.

Toronto Used Mazda CX-5 Guide

Overview

The Mazda CX-5 is a standout in the compact SUV segment, known for its stylish design, engaging driving dynamics, and upscale interior, making it a top choice for Toronto drivers. With its combination of practicality and refinement, the CX-5 is ideal for navigating the busy streets of downtown Toronto, commuting along the Gardiner Expressway, or heading out for weekend trips to nearby destinations like Blue Mountain or Prince Edward County.

Available in trims like the GX, GS, GT, and Signature, the CX-5 offers options ranging from budget-friendly practicality to luxury-inspired features. The available all-wheel drive (AWD) enhances its suitability for Toronto’s snowy winters, while the turbocharged engine on higher trims provides added power for highway driving. Compared to competitors like the Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V, the CX-5 stands out for its superior handling, premium interior materials, and a driving experience that feels more like a sporty sedan than a typical SUV.

Key benefits

Here’s why the Mazda CX-5 is a top choice among compact SUVs for Toronto drivers:

Engaging Performance: The CX-5 offers best-in-class handling and a more responsive driving experience compared to rivals like the Honda CR-V.

Premium Interior: Its upscale cabin materials and thoughtful design rival those found in luxury SUVs, elevating comfort for drivers and passengers.

All-Wheel Drive Capability: AWD is available across most trims, making the CX-5 well-suited for Toronto’s icy streets and snowy conditions.

Advanced Technology: Features like a responsive infotainment system, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and advanced safety systems come standard or are available on most trims.

Great Value: The CX-5 combines a premium feel with competitive pricing, offering more value than similarly equipped models in its class.

Potential trade-offs

While the Mazda CX-5 excels in many areas, Toronto buyers should consider the following:

Cargo Space: The CX-5 offers less cargo capacity compared to competitors like the Toyota RAV4, which may impact practicality for families or large hauls.

Fuel Efficiency: While competitive, some rivals offer better mileage in city driving, which is important for Toronto’s stop-and-go traffic.

Maintenance Costs: Mazda vehicles may require more specialized maintenance than mainstream rivals, though they remain generally reliable.

Rear Seat Space: The CX-5’s rear seating is slightly more compact than some competitors, which could be a consideration for families.

Demand for High Trims: Popular trims like the GT or Signature, with premium features, may have limited availability in Toronto’s competitive used car market.
