2024 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross

A no-brainer value pick for a mid-sized crossover SUV on a budget

PROS

Ride and Handling
The brakes are highly responsive and the steering handles wonderfully for a crossover. The engine isn’t the gutsiest thing in the world but it provides plenty of power for getting up hills or passing in high speed situations.
Seat Comfort
The cabin is quiet and the seats are comfortable (if maybe a bit firm). I can imagine the seats will break in well.
Interior Space
The vehicle itself is fairly compact and easy to maneuver through tight city streets. Despite this, the interior space is pretty great. It’s even possible to sleep in there!
Value
For a 2024 model with only ~8500km on it, we got an absolute steal!
Fuel Economy
On the highway, we tend to average about 8L/100km. In the city we get around 9.5L/100km. Altogether not bad at all.
Styling
Mitsubishis aren’t known for their aesthetics, but this isn’t an ugly vehicle by any means.
Reliability
It’s a fairly simple vehicle with fairly proven power train tech. Even the CVT is a more reliable type that lasts a long while with proper service.

CONS

Technology and Entertainment
This is sort of both a pro and con, but this being such a simple vehicle DOES translate to the tech inside. Safety features etc are all there (including some bonuses like warnings to brake if it detects an imminent collision), but the infotainment can be lacking. It’s basic but it works.

Used Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross in London

Overview

The Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross is a compact SUV designed for urban and suburban driving, making it a practical choice for London’s diverse road conditions. It offers a balance between size and functionality, ideal for commuting through the city or taking weekend trips to nearby attractions like the Thames Valley. In London, the most common trims available on the used market include the SE and SEL, which are equipped with features that cater to both comfort and convenience.

Buyers often compare the Eclipse Cross to other compact SUVs such as the Honda CR-V, Mazda CX-5, and Nissan Rogue. It appeals to those who prioritize a unique design and a comfortable ride over the more performance-oriented options in its segment.

Key benefits

Here are five reasons why the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross stands out in London:

  • All-Wheel Drive Traction: The Eclipse Cross offers superior AWD capabilities, making it a reliable choice for London’s unpredictable winter weather.
  • Unique Styling: Its distinctive design sets it apart from more conventional-looking rivals, appealing to those seeking a standout appearance.
  • Compact Size: Easier to maneuver and park in London’s urban environment compared to larger SUVs.
  • Affordability: Typically priced lower than competitors like the Honda CR-V, offering good value for budget-conscious buyers.
  • Warranty Coverage: Mitsubishi’s extended warranty options provide peace of mind for used car buyers.

Potential trade-offs

Consider these factors when deciding on a used Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross:

  • Performance Limitations: Compared to rivals like the Mazda CX-5, it may offer less engaging handling and acceleration.
  • Interior Space: Rear seating and cargo space are more limited than some competitors, which may be a consideration for families.
  • Technology Features: Older models may lack the advanced infotainment systems found in newer rivals.
  • Fuel Efficiency: While competitive, it doesn’t lead the segment in L/100km ratings, which could impact long-term fuel costs.
  • Trim Availability: Fewer high-spec models might be available in the used market, limiting options for those seeking premium features.

Buyers focused on performance or interior space may want to consider alternatives, but for those prioritizing style and affordability, the Eclipse Cross is worth a look.
