2024 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross

A no-brainer value pick for a mid-sized crossover SUV on a budget

PROS

Ride and Handling
The brakes are highly responsive and the steering handles wonderfully for a crossover. The engine isn’t the gutsiest thing in the world but it provides plenty of power for getting up hills or passing in high speed situations.
Seat Comfort
The cabin is quiet and the seats are comfortable (if maybe a bit firm). I can imagine the seats will break in well.
Interior Space
The vehicle itself is fairly compact and easy to maneuver through tight city streets. Despite this, the interior space is pretty great. It’s even possible to sleep in there!
Value
For a 2024 model with only ~8500km on it, we got an absolute steal!
Fuel Economy
On the highway, we tend to average about 8L/100km. In the city we get around 9.5L/100km. Altogether not bad at all.
Styling
Mitsubishis aren’t known for their aesthetics, but this isn’t an ugly vehicle by any means.
Reliability
It’s a fairly simple vehicle with fairly proven power train tech. Even the CVT is a more reliable type that lasts a long while with proper service.

CONS

Technology and Entertainment
This is sort of both a pro and con, but this being such a simple vehicle DOES translate to the tech inside. Safety features etc are all there (including some bonuses like warnings to brake if it detects an imminent collision), but the infotainment can be lacking. It’s basic but it works.

Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross in Toronto

Overview

The Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross is a compact SUV that has gained popularity in Toronto for its blend of style, performance, and practicality. Known for its turbocharged engine and all-wheel-drive capability, the Eclipse Cross is well-suited for Toronto's diverse driving conditions, from the bustling downtown core to the suburban streets of Scarborough. Its compact size makes it ideal for navigating Toronto's narrow streets and finding parking in the city.

In Toronto's used car market, the Eclipse Cross is commonly available in trims such as the ES, SE, and SEL, each offering a variety of features to cater to different preferences. When compared to rivals like the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4, the Eclipse Cross distinguishes itself with its unique design and competitive pricing. Its turbocharged engine delivers an engaging driving experience, while the all-wheel-drive system provides assurance during Toronto's snowy winters. The increasing demand for this model highlights a trend among Toronto drivers who are seeking a harmonious blend of style, performance, and practicality in their vehicles.

Key benefits

Choosing a Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross in Toronto offers several advantages:

  • Turbocharged Performance: The Eclipse Cross's turbocharged engine provides a lively and engaging driving experience.
  • All-Wheel Drive Capability: Ideal for Toronto's winter conditions, offering enhanced traction and stability.
  • Compact Size: Perfect for city driving, making it easier to navigate narrow streets and find parking.
  • Unique Design: Stands out with its distinctive styling compared to other compact SUVs.
  • Competitive Pricing: Offers value for money, especially when compared to rivals like the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4.

Potential trade-offs

While the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross is a great choice, there are some considerations:

  • Interior Space: May feel more cramped compared to some competitors, especially in the rear seats.
  • Fuel Efficiency: The turbocharged engine may not be as fuel-efficient as some other compact SUVs.
  • Technology Features: Some rivals offer more advanced infotainment and driver-assistance features.
  • Resale Value: May not hold its value as well as some competitors in the used car market.
  • Limited Trim Options: Fewer customization options compared to other brands.
