2018 Nissan Kicks

Amazing experience and great car!

PROS

Ride and Handling
Very responsive brakes and handling.
Seat Comfort
Seating is comfortable and there is little to no cabin noise unless I am starting the car in the cold.
Technology and Entertainment
I like that most of the time it is a reliable system with the touch screen and the blue tooth works very well.
Interior Space
A great amount of space for helping move large items and transporting our 3 large dogs with their cages, etc and friends.
Value
I got a great deal on both my financing which Clutch assisted with, and due to the surface damage/slightly higher mileage on the car. It was good to know that Clutch kept those in mind while pricing the car.
Styling
Very sleek car, had a minimal amount of surface damage but it is barely noticeable.
Reliability
I have had no issues and I drive a lot when I am working in the city for contracts, oil changes cost a little more than my old car but I have been in need of one for a couple thousand km and have had no issues.

CONS

Technology and Entertainment
The volume knob on the car stopped working pretty quickly so I have to use the steering wheel. The android auto/car play functions can be iffy with the microphone/audio instructions and sometimes the touch screen doesn't like the section of the screen where I select android auto.
Fuel Economy
Maybe it's my driving style and the long distance drives when I am on contract vs short distance when I am at home but the km reader in the gas tank is not as good as I expected from the car's average fuel efficiency.

Toronto Used Nissan Kicks Guide

Overview

The Nissan Kicks is a compact crossover that has gained popularity among Toronto drivers for its practicality and fuel efficiency. Known for its agile handling and compact size, the Kicks is well-suited for navigating Toronto's urban landscape, where tight parking spaces and heavy traffic are common. The vehicle's elevated seating position and excellent visibility make it a favourite for city driving, while its efficient engine helps keep fuel costs manageable in a city known for its high traffic congestion.

In Toronto's used car market, the Nissan Kicks is often found in trims like the SV and SR, which offer a balance of affordability and features such as advanced safety systems and infotainment options. Compared to competitors like the Honda HR-V and Hyundai Kona, the Kicks stands out with its spacious interior and competitive pricing, making it an attractive option for budget-conscious buyers seeking a reliable urban vehicle.

Key benefits

Choosing a used Nissan Kicks in Toronto offers several advantages:

  • Fuel Efficiency: The Kicks is known for its excellent fuel economy, making it ideal for Toronto's stop-and-go traffic and long commutes.
  • Compact Size: Its small footprint makes parking in tight downtown spaces easier, a significant advantage in a city with limited parking availability.
  • Spacious Interior: Despite its compact exterior, the Kicks offers ample interior space, providing comfort for passengers and flexibility for cargo.
  • Advanced Safety Features: Many used models come equipped with driver-assist technologies, enhancing safety in Toronto's busy streets.
  • Affordability: The Kicks is competitively priced in the used market, offering good value for those looking to maximize their budget.

Potential trade-offs

While the Nissan Kicks is a practical choice for Toronto drivers, there are some considerations to keep in mind:

  • Performance: The base engine may feel underpowered on highways, which could be a concern for those frequently traveling on the 401 or Gardiner Expressway.
  • Technology: Older models might lack some of the latest infotainment features, which could be a drawback for tech-savvy buyers.
  • Winter Handling: While the Kicks performs well in city conditions, its front-wheel-drive configuration may not be ideal for Toronto's harsh winter roads without proper winter tires.
  • Resale Value: Although affordable, the Kicks may not retain its value as well as some competitors, impacting long-term investment.
  • Ride Comfort: The ride may feel firm over Toronto's pothole-ridden streets, which could affect comfort on longer journeys.
