2023 Nissan Rogue

Nissan Rogue vs the competition

PROS

Ride and Handling
It's a very smooth driving car and everyone who has been in it comments on how comfortable it is to ride in.
Seat Comfort
The seats in this model are super comfortable and adjustable. There is lots of storage.
Technology and Entertainment
I'm an old guy so tech does not impress me usually but this car seems to have all the features people look for and they are quite user friendly which I appreciate.
Interior Space
The leg room both front and back are exceptional and the cargo area is spacious. The rear side doors swing out 90 degrees which I have never seen before making loading of awkward sized loads easy.
Value
We compared this car to all others in its class and believe it to be a winner. It may not hold a resale value over time against the Honda or Toyota models but the up front savings cover that.
Fuel Economy
For the size of this car I find the gas mileage impressive. My previous vehicle was slightly smaller yet not as efficient
Styling
I like that it is taller than some SUVs with lots of headroom even with the sunroof. Style is subjective but I like the shape, it blends looks with practicality.
Reliability
Having only owned the Rogue a few months I can say it has definitely given me better gas mileage than the Chev SUV I previously owned. I took it to the Nissan dealer for a scheduled maintenance and found them easy to deal with and no more expensive than any other. So far it has been a very reliable car.

CONS

Ride and Handling
The Rogue is a tall vehicle so if you are looking for sporty performance this car may not be for you. It offers a smooth comfortable ride, great for road trips, not slaloms.
Value
This car is a great up front value with lots of features and tech but if you like to keep a car for a long time and still want high trade in value you may want to spend more on a Honda or Toyota now to reap the rewards later.

2016 Nissan Rogue

Great Value Compact SUV with a Few Aging Quirks

PROS

Ride and Handling
The 2.5L engine delivers smooth, reliable power for daily commuting and highway merging, and the CVT transmission keeps acceleration seamless without harsh shifting. Braking feels responsive and confidence-inspiring, even in city stop-and-go traffic.
Seat Comfort
The seats are supportive and comfortable even on longer drives, and the cabin does a good job of keeping road and wind noise to a minimum, making highway trips feel relaxed and quiet.
Interior Space
The cabin is impressively roomy for a compact SUV, with plenty of legroom in both rows, and the trunk space is generous with a flat-folding rear seat that makes hauling larger items easy.
Value
For the price paid through Clutch, the Rogue offers a lot of car — solid reliability, low running costs, and Nissan's reputation for longevity make it feel like money well spent. It's a great balance of practicality and affordability compared to newer compact SUVs.
Styling
The 2016 Rogue has a clean, modern SUV silhouette that still looks fresh years later, with a bold front grille and sculpted body lines that give it a more premium look than its price suggests.

CONS

Fuel Economy
Fuel economy is decent but not exceptional for a compact SUV, especially in city driving where it tends to drink more than expected compared to newer competitors with more efficient engines or hybrid options. Highway mileage is reasonable, but it doesn't quite match some rivals in the same class.
Reliability
Being a 2016 model, some owners report issues with the CVT transmission over time, which can be costly to repair or replace if problems arise as mileage increases. Routine maintenance costs are average, but it's worth budgeting for potential CVT-related repairs down the line, especially past the 100,000 km mark.
